Meet adoptable dogs at adorable ‘Puppy Prom’ – NBC Los Angeles

PROM DAY? It can be a busy activity, a stretch filled with errands and chores. Could you stop by the rental store to pick up your tuxedo, or stop by your local tailor to see if your favorite sequin dress has been hemmed, and do a little something special with your hairstyle? Hair maintenance can fill at least a few hours before the stylish event. But some prom attendees don’t run anywhere unless they’re chasing each other around the yard. Instead, they’re probably dozing in the sun or gnawing on a favorite squeaky toy before their big party, and worries about bodices and cummerbunds? These concerns do not cross the minds of these prom-goers. For a Puppy Ball is on a whimsical path, all to raise money for the Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe and to find a home for prom-going pooches.

THE EVENT? It all happens at the Original 40 Brewing Company in San Diego on Saturday May 14. Contests, photos (with the classic ballroom backdrop), ready-to-dance tunes, the opportunity to make buttonholes and bodices, and free admission for Helen Woodward Animal Center alumni are part of the two-hour to do, as are discounts on Pawsitive Memories Blonde Ale. The brewery will also donate 30% of its sales from dog-friendly events to center programs. And under the central spotlights, super soft? “Wallflower” puppies, those dogs that need a home to call themselves. And even if you can’t do Puppy Prom, you can watch center updates for some fabulous pics, and give from afarif you want.

SUPERCHIPONS TO THE RESCUE: It’s the adorable organization behind PAW-micon, the comedy-cute fundraiser happening just before Comic-Con International in July, which means cape-wearing canines will soon be adorable in our feeds.
