Meet Austin FC’s new mascot(s): the adoptable dogs of Austin Pets Alive!

To promote pet adoption throughout Central Texas, Austin FC has partnered with Austin Pets Alive!, bringing a new initiative to the stadium and showcasing some of the friendliest puppies in town.
Each game will feature an APA! dog that needs a good home. Not only will the animals serve as honorary mascots, but they will also participate in “on-site activations”, as well as numerous outreach activities and social media coverage. Additionally, dogs will also play a part in pre-match activations, which happen just before kick-off. Will the new furry pets find their forever home in the field? It is hope. With thousands of fans watching, APA! expects awareness to result in adoption.
“Austin Pets Alive! is more than honored to join the Austin FC team in such a special way,” Katera Berent, Public Relations and Events Manager at APA!, said in a recent press release. “Being able to shine a light on the incredible dogs in our care, those most at risk of being euthanized, is truly a dream come true for this audience. It is our hope to connect with the team and its fans on a deep level and we look forward to cheering on the Austin team.
Austin FC reflects that sentiment, with chairman Andy Loughnane calling the partnership “unique in the sport but incredibly authentic to Austin.”
Adoptable dogs will be featured at every Austin FC regular season home game throughout the 2021 season. Click here to view their schedule.
